Introduction
In this blog I intend to update current information that I acquire from media lessons. Different factors like 'Audience Theory', Camera/Shots/Angles will be uploaded on separate posts with various examples and evidence to back up what I have learned. I hope to use this information to help me in the future (media-wise) and to be able to also put independant research onto here for my own learning benefit.

Analysis of Typography
Typography primarily refers to the way text is arranged on a page. The typical combination of typography includes font, size, spacing and colour. A BIG FONT attracts more of an audience and a YELLOW colour grabs more peoples attention. Sans Serif fonts like Ariel and Calibri are identified with a typical audiences as they are regular and not extravagant in any way. If a Trebuchet font was to be used we can assume that it was more appropriate for children as the writing is more bigger and spaced out making it more easier to read and comprehend.
In the picture above the size of the words clearly indicate the size of the country therefore using the unique aspect of typography which is size. We can clearly gather that Russia, Canada and China are big countries n comparison to Pakistan, Tanzania and Venezuela.

Analysis of Colour
The colour aspect of typography can be interpreted in various different ways including themes, preferences and genres. e.g Green and Red are typically used for the theme of Christmas and Orange and Black are commonly used for Halloween. Colours are used to accentuate a range of different ideas.
Colours are essential to a magazine as they are what can draw the readers attention. Certain colours can give certain effects.. for example, Red, Yellow and Blue (Primary Colours) will stand out more and capture audiences who would happen to look at it. Bright colours like Yellow are very vivid and easy to acknowledge as oppose to blue and a dark green, however, certain colours are significant to certain brands. e.g Red would be essential to a coca-cola advert or Purple to a Cadburys etc.
Colours like Black, Brown and Grey are not as attractive and are seen as dull as they tend to draw audiences away. However, certain effects/ different colours on top of the base colours (black and brown) can make them stand out more. e.g A starry night sky (as seen below), If the picture was just black it woudn't capture much attention, however the stars on it attract an audience and make a more ''appreciative'' responce as oppose to a matt black base.

Audience Theory
Every type of media have specifc aspects aimed
for different audiences.. this could be colour, genre of music and film, age or
gender. Whether its a typical 'girly-girl' programme, e.g Desperate Housewives
or the typical 'boyish' programme e.g Top Gear. The clear contrast between these
shows present the different audience types and in some way a clear divider
between girls and boys. However, its not abrupt for boys to watch ''Desperate
Housewives'' or girls to watch ''Top Gear'', its just clear by the characters,
scenes and portrayal who it is initally intended for.
Certain ethnic films that portray different cultural lives e.g 'Blood Diamond', 'Bend it Like it Beckham' and 'Karate Kid' all portray different cultures and different habits of places around the world. Although these films are about different cultures and ways of living, they are not necessarily intended for those who are of the same religion/culture. If anything, films like these teach those unaware of different cultures/religions and are informed and educated throughout the duration of the film.
As long as the media entertains you than you are more than capable to watch it regardless.
Age is another factor that seperates audiences. Certain films/tv shows are particularly aimed at audiences of a specific age. Childrens shows e.g 'Peppa Pig', 'Monsters inc' and 'Teletubbies' are clearly aimed at people of younger ages. Programmes like these use simple language that can be understod by younger audiences and highlight experieces that children may face and how to tackle them. More adult programes would be specifically not aimed for children as they may contain inappropiate themes like sex, violence and crime. These themes are far from appropiate for young children as they're not at an age to have knowledge of such topics. 'Friends with Benefits','Fast and Furious' and 'I Spit on your Grave'.

Audiences can also be separated into social classes. These are the classes:
A: Higher Mangerial and professional
B: Middle Management
C1: Office Workers
C2: Skilled manual Workers
D: Unskilled Workers
E: Unemployed, Unwaged.
A clear audience factor for any type of media is Genre. Films can be chosen depending on the type of mood the audience is in, whether it be a family film a comedy or a horror. Different genres can be chosen due to certain feelings. A stereotypical habit of females is when they are in a sad mood they may be likely to watch a rom-com (romantic-comedy) as we presume this makes them feel better and comforted. With friends it's also common to watch a horror film as its a type of film that creates a lot of exaggerated emotion and memorable scenes. Certain people only prefer a certain genre of films which is solely due to that being a preference. Some people may only like to watch classic films e.g 'Casablanca', 'Sound of Music' and 'Oklahoma' as they feel that films from the past had more meaning and are more deeper than the modern films we currently have.
This is the primary reason they have Genres as there are different preferences of Film/TV. Some people experience different emotions through specific genres e.g Sadness through drama films like 'Boy In The Striped Pyjamas' and laughter through comedies like 'Borat'.
